BEDTIME RITUALS · 2 min read
Screen-free bedtime music: set it up, then put it down.
Keep the playlist while leaving notifications, scrolling and bright controls out of your shared bedtime moment.
Separate choosing from listening.
Find the music at a time when you are not also trying to settle your baby. Save a direct link or a small playlist where you can reach it easily. You can then start the recording with fewer taps and avoid turning bedtime into another search through recommendations, messages and album artwork.
Prepare your own device.
Set a comfortable volume before you begin. Use notification settings that suit your circumstances, keeping any calls you need available. Put the device on a stable surface away from the sleep space. The screen is there to operate the recording; it does not need to become the activity your baby watches.
Try a voice-only evening.
If reaching for the phone repeatedly pulls your attention away, use a short hum or spoken goodnight instead. This can be a useful backup when a battery is flat or a connection fails. A recording is optional, and a familiar moment does not have to depend on a particular app working perfectly.
Make stopping easy, too.
Learn the player’s stop or timer controls in advance. Keep charging leads out of reach, and do not leave a device in the cot. The practical aim is a simpler evening for you. It is not necessary to measure screen-free minutes or claim that one technical arrangement guarantees better sleep.

A SONG FOR THE MOMENT YOU ARE IN
One small pause.
One familiar melody.
