Your voice or a recording? Both can have a place.

Choose the easier musical moment today without feeling you must sing beautifully or buy more equipment.

A newborn resting in their mother’s supporting arms.

Use the voice you have.

You can sing a few lines, hum a tiny phrase or speak gently in your own language. There is no need to match a recorded singer’s range. If singing feels awkward, begin with a familiar goodnight sentence and let a little melody find its way in, or simply leave it spoken.

Let recordings be convenient.

A recording can be useful when you would rather listen, when another caregiver wants a familiar tune or when you enjoy the sound together. Choose it beforehand so the phone does not demand your attention throughout the moment. The recording is there to accompany you, not to replace interaction with your baby.

Avoid stacking every option.

You do not need a recorded lullaby, a musical toy and your own song at the same time. Try one thing and allow a pause afterward. Switching between voice, music and silence is a choice you can make in response to the situation, rather than an instruction to keep your baby entertained continuously.

Keep the decision friendly.

Some evenings you will want to sing; others you may want quiet. Neither version proves you are doing more or less for your baby. For health or developmental concerns, ask a professional rather than treating a preference for one kind of sound as a diagnosis. The shared moment does not need a winner.
